Greetings - привітання

| ласка́во про́симо додо́му / віта́ю вдо́ма / з приї́здом | welcome home |
| віта́ю | welcome / greetings / congratulations. also used to wish happy birthday. |
| Слава Ісусу Христу! (Halychyna) / Слава Богу (Polissia) | Glory to Jesus Christ / God. These are religious greetings used in rural Western Ukraine. When this is said, answer with Слава навіки! (glory forever!). Beware, this greeting changes on religious holidays. |

| Я не хотів (male) / Я не хотіла (female) | I didn't mean to. literally "I didn't want to." usually the sentence goes unfinished because the context is already known. |
| мені (дуже) шкода | I feel bad. / I'm so sorry. This can be said if you were involved in the situation or if you're just expressing condolences for something that happened. |

how are you?
The universal way to ask "How are you?" is як спра́ви? There are also some more slang-ish ways to ask this:- → Як ти?
- → (Ну) Шо ти? / Шо ти там? = very informal
- → Як життя? = How's life?
- → Як самопочуття? = How's your health/feeling?
- → Як ся маєш?
- → Як спра?
- → Що нового? = What's new?
- → Як воно?
After giving your own answer, you can thank the asker (Дякую) and ask back with a phrase like А у Вас? (formal) / А у тебе? (informal).
